Candidates reminded not to put-up campaign ads on trees
MANILA - With the start of the campaign period for local elective posts, Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. on Easter Sunday reminded all local candidates not to put-up or place campaign ads on trees.
Atty. Sharon Millan-Decano, Secretary General of Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. said "Politicians and politicians-wannabes must be guided as to where they should place their campaign paraphernalia. With the problem of environmental degradation, our future leaders must also be environmental protectors".
Under the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 9615 it is unlawful to post, display, or exhibit any election campaign or propaganda material outside of authorized common poster areas, in public places, or in private properties without the consent of the owner.
The public is encouraged to report to COMELEC erring candidates, especially those who do not respect Mother Nature.
