Caughlin Fire: Reno State of Emergency

The Caughlin Fire has destroyed at least 20 homes so far. Nevada Governor Jay Sandoval has declared a State of Emergency, and asked California for assistance in battling the blaze.

The fire broke out at around 12:30am on November 18 in the Caughlin Ranch area of southwest Reno. Driven by high winds, the fire has not been contained, and has destroyed over 400 acres.

We have eyewitness video of the Caughlin Fire in Reno below. Nearly 5,000 homes are threatened by the Caughlin Fire, and one person has died so far while evacuating.

The evacuation area for the Caughlin Fire has been expanded: see the new evacuation boundaries below. If you must evacuate and need a place to go, head to Galena High School (map). Once Galena High School is full,  Damonte Ranch High School (map) will be the next evacuation point.

t is now McCarran north to Caughlin Parkway and south to Caughlin Ranch Elementary School and Alum Creek area.

The boundary to the south is Zolezzi Lane to Arrowcreek Parkway.
