Celebrate World Turtle Day - May 23, Help Them Survive!

Once again, comes a day where we have to sit back, analyze and take some action to help one of mother natures finest creations - The Turtle.

World Turtle Day is celebrated each year on the 23rd of May. It might not be as popular as the World Environment Day or World AIDS day but it definitely holds an important place in the quest to help mother nature survive. The initiative, in the year 2000, was taken by The Humane Society of the United States and sponsored by American Tortoise Rescue.

The purpose of celebrating World Turtle Day on May 23 is to bring attention to, and increase knowledge of and respect for, turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.

Let us make some worthwhile efforts in this direction, and make sure that the beautiful creature survives and lives a wonderful life.

I love turtles and some of their species have been around since the time of the dinosaurs - they are so important to preserve.

Yeah they are lovely creatures.. :) I believe everyone has the right to survive and hopefully we should be able to let them have theirs... :)

They are so cool! Too bad many are endangered.

Over 200 kinds of turtles are known in the world, with 7 reported from Nova Scotia. Three of these are giant marine turtles - the Atlantic Loggerhead, Atlantic Ridley and Atlantic Leatherback - that visit our oceans in summer. These turtles are sometimes seen from boats or tangled in fishing gear. They nest in more tropical parts of the world. All marine turtles are considered to be endangered species.

Yo - the Humane Society did not start World Turtle Day - I am proud to say we did and they help publicize it too. But all the credit goes to American Tortoise Rescue in Malibu for coming up with the idea to care about turtles this way and now it is observed around the world. Check us out at www.tortoise.com

Kolkata, May 16 (ANI): Railway staff has rescued over 1000 turtles from smugglers at the Howrah Railway station.

I wonder who the buyers were? Looks like mother nature gave them a helping hand with the rain.

No, this turtle is actually like this only. The turtle has a sort of smiling face which gives him the title of the happiest turtle! No touch ups here mate!

Go turtle world. Love turtle too like ninja turtle cartoon. Let's celebrated it to save the turtle from gone forever. They need to be save for better life. Don't kill this beautiful animals.
