Going from dry ground to snow, to flooding in a matter of a few weeks is how the year is beginning in Washington state in 2009. Not quite as bad in my area as previously, but still not good. I woke up this morning to the information that I-5 was closed for about twenty miles around Chehalis and Centralia. Traffic seems to be as usual along the road in front of my house. We tend to be on higher ground here.
The farmland is saturated and soft, so in order to get these pictures I did say away from pushing too closely to the edge of the bank and left the dog at home. I'm hearing the helicopters overhead as officials assess the situation.
