Chile Earthquake June 1, 2011: 6.2 Quake, No Tsunami Warning
6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Chile
Chile was hit by an earthquake measuring 6.2 in magnitude. The Chile earthquake was initially reported as measuring 6.4, but has been downgraded by the USGS. The June 1 earthquake struck at 8:55am local time.
An aftershock, measuring 5.1, struck at 9:47am local time. No tsunami warnings have been issued in relation to the Chile earthquakes.

The quakes struck off the coast of Chile's Bio-Bio region. While there are reports of people fleeing their homes, there have been no reports of damage to houses or infrastructure, or major injury.
Last year, Chile was hit by a monster quake measuring 8.8 in magnitude, which shook the Earth on its axis. The South American nation has had two major quakes between then and the two that struck this morning.
