Chokecherry gin (a la sloe gin), with thanks to Rob and to Peter — my sloe gin mentors!
European sloes do not grow in our area of Ontario, so I’m using the closest we have: very astringent chokecherries (Prunus virginiana). This year, probably because of our heavy rains all summer, we’ve got the biggest and the sweetest and least astringent chokecherries I’ve ever seen.
