Climate activist Chris Kitchen was prevented by authorities from leaving Britain on his way to attend the United Nations Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark.  He was removed from a bus at the English side of the Channel tunnel.

Chris Kitchen has participated in peaceful civil disobedience in the past, at one time gluing himself to a statue, but has never been associated with violence.

Quote:

Kitchen said police officers boarded the coach and, after checking all passengers' passports, took him and another climate activist to be interviewed under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, a clause which enables border officials to stop and search individuals to determine if they are connected to terrorism. It appears that the police have the authority to prevent people from leaving Britain under the authority of anti-terrorism act - Terrorism Act 2 000.  By the time the police were through questioning Chris Kitchen with regards to his intentions on the Continent and about his personal life the bus had left.

Chris Kitchen has stated that he will attempt to leave fortress Britain again.
