Kudos to SM for their Waste Market in their mall branches. I look forward to SM opening Waste Markets in their Cubao, Harrison and Manila branches. Umaapaw na ang Metro Manila at ang buong Pilipinas sa plastics! SM could help in eradicating the dependence on dumpsites. My home alone has succeeded in not giving anything to the garbage collectors. We compost organic wastes resources, we totally recover/clean/dry all kinds of plastics and direct this to proper destinations (tile/brick/tabletop makers/ factories). At present, my home's plastics waste resource collection runs up to about 30 kilos (for 1 1/2 year yield, also for statistics purposes). But I'd rather keep them first than turn them over to the garbage collectors. Am waiting desperately for SM Cubao to provide a waste market for plastics. Even though RA 9003 requires every barangay to have its composting center/recycling center, we can no longer wait for nothing! Just imagine, out of 42,000 barangays in RP, only a small number are complying with RA 9003. Therefore, the empowered private sector, the business community, civil society, civic groups like the Rotary, Jaycees, Lions, Kiwanis, Zonta and others, communities, villages, schools and more, should lose no time in responding to the challenges brought by global warming and environmental degradation. It is time to walk the talk, as according to Greenpeace Southeast Asia, we only have 5 years within which to act through mitigation and adaptation efforts. I wish to share with you all my 8-Point and 12-Point Action in Addressing the Global Warming Problem (in my Facebook notes). May the spirit of the 'avatar' dwell upon us all...:>
