Louisiana officials could have approval Wednesday on a proposal to build sand berms to protect barrier islands from oil leaking from the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

This should have been done

months ago.  There is not even

one excuse for the delay in even

starting the process to protect the coast.

A no Brainer :)

Will sand burms that will slowlly erode away if not removed (once coated in oil that would otherwise be all over the shore) do more damage than the oil?

NO.

so put out the sand burms (with sand that is dregged up in the shipping channels) and be done with it, the longer we wait, the more damage is done.
