Coke’s New Product: Vio, A Fizzy Milk Drink
Coca-Cola is pushing conventional boundaries by launching a new milk-flavored fizzy drink. The new product called ‘Vio’ is made will skimmed cow’s milk, cream, sparkling water and cane sugar and comes in peach, mango, berry, citrus and tropical colada flavors. The product is being sold on trial starting June 2009 in New York, packaged in white 8-ounce aluminum bottles.
Does the idea of drinking "fizzy milk" whet your appetite or gross you out? Will Vio be a success or a failure?
Going under the name Vio, Coca-Cola has begun test-marketing the carbonated drink at natural food stores and delis in New York. It sells for about $2.50 a bottle, no chilling required.
Vio was developed by scientists in Coca-Cola laboratories in Atlanta, Georgia. A Coke copywriter says the effervescent milk drink tastes like ‘a birthday party for a polar bear’.
Although it contains 15 percent of the daily recommended intake of calcium according to foodbev.com, Vio is being marketed as a refreshment drink rather than a healthful milk product. With 26 grams of sugar it is not very different from other non-diet Coke products barring its 1.5 grams of fat, according to the new york post.

Sounds sort of like a New York Egg Cream, which is made with milk, seltzer, and chocolate syrup...

It will be delicious, my family has been having coke and milk mixed together for years, I am sure their fruity flavors will be great ,but they should also include a mix of the classic, I assure you it tastes great! And it makes sense: it's the same idea as a coke float.
