32,000 Evacuated as Colorado Springs Wildfire Jumps Firefighters' Perimeter

The Waldo Canyon fire, burning near Colorado Springs, has doubled in size after jumping the firefighting perimeter. Fire Chief Rich Brown described the Colorado Springs wildfire as "a firestorm of epic proportions".

You can see the latest eyewitness photos and video of the wildfire below.

32,000 people were ordered to evacuate their homes, including 21,000 on-campus residents at the Air Force Academy. The massive blaze is choking Colorado Springs with smoke, and firefighters cannot tell how many homes have been destroyed since June 26.

The Waldo Springs fire has become the state's number-one firefighting priority in the worst wildfire season Colorado has seen in a decade.

My heart goes out to the people of Colorado Springs, where I was born 51 years ago. Didn't live there long, but the place where we come into the world, in one way or another, is always HOME. I pray God's protection & comfort for all of you and that the winds change! All of my thoughts, prayers and positive energy from Paris, France.
