Colorado Wildfires Reach Colorado Springs, Boulder
An elderly man was found dead, and his wife missing, as the Waldo Canyon wildfire swept through the Mountain Shadow neighborhood of Colorado Springs. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff fire is very close to reaching Boulder. You can see the latest eyewitness video of the Waldo Canyon fire and the Flagstaff fire below.
So far the Waldo Canyon fire, just one of many wildfires ravaging Colorado, had destroyed around 350 homes and consumed over 16,700 acres.
The Waldo Canyon fire, only 15% contained, is very close to reaching Colorado Springs itself. The state is experiencing record high temperatures as well as dry winds. Over 20,000 homes are threatened in the area. Over 35,000 people have been evacuated from the area.
Meanwhile, the Flagstaff fire, which is 30% contained, was "one ridge away" from reaching Boulder before its advance was slowed.
