Colorado Wildfires: 11,000 Evacuated Near Pike's Peak
A wildfire near Pike's Peak has forced 11,000 Colorado Springs residents from their homes as Colorado faces its worst wildfire season in a decade.
The High Park fire, still only 45% contained, has now burned over 83,000 acres and destroyed close to 250 homes. Below you can see eyewitness video of the Colorado Springs wildfire, as well as of the High Park fire.
As yet another wildfire broke out, Pre-evacuation notifications were sent to residents along Colorado Highway 14 from the Pingree Park Road west to Glen Echo, and north on County Road 69 to Goodell Corner, as well as to those living in the Shoreline Drive area.
The American Red Cross has set up a shelter at Cache La Poudre Middle School in LaPorte.
