Common people bear brunt of climate change`s impact

Fiu Elias Sara from Samoa Islands said the land surface in his country lay only less than three meters above sea level so that it was under serious threat of sinking.
Felicita from Mexico said climate change had caused floods which had adversely affected the country`s economy, especially its small enterprises as the floods had forced them to leave the cities.
Felicita said natural disasters had worsened the fate of the poor people in her country where forests and natural gas resources were being exploited by multinational companies.
Alex Sangenapa from Papua said Indonesia`s easternmost province now only has 40 million hectares of forest and the area was continuing to shrink due to exploitation by big industries which frequently triggered conflicts between local people and the government.
