19.The 160+ million year old fossilized Jurassic forest at Curio Bay. “One of the finest examples of Jurassic forest in the world.” There was a colony of yellow-eyed penguins here that nest on shore and go out to fish at sea early in the morning. I got up early to see them, but not early enough- I found out they leave before sunrise (from some German tourists who had seen them, and showed me great close-up pictures of them waddling over the rocks to the sea).
