Our storm is just starting up. It won't be a good one really. Can you see the falling snow? Here is the latest warning:

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SUNDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SUNDAY.

MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AS A SURFACE LOW MOVES EASTWARD ALONG THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY. ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON SHOULD RANGE FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES. HOWEVER THERE WILL BE A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW THAT WILL BE LOCATED FROM NEAR OBERLIN TO MEADVILLE INTO THE AFTERNOON. IN THIS BAND SNOW AMOUNTS MAY REACH 10 INCHES. THIS BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW SHOULD END FROM WEST TO EAST THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WITH ADDITIONAL LIGHTER AMOUNTS INTO THE EVENING.

SOME FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL OCCUR NEAR AND SOUTH OF A WOOSTER TO YOUNGSTOWN LINE THOUGH 2 PM BUT THEN SWITCH BACK TO LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW AT TIMES FOR THE AFTERNOON. THIS MIX OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL REDUCE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FOR THIS AREA BUT STILL SHOULD BE IN THE 3 TO 5 INCH RANGE WITH THE AFTERNOON SNOW SHOWERS.

WINDS WILL INCREASE TO BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MPH ACROSS THE AREA BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. THIS WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS EXPECTED. HEAVY SNOW AND/OR ICE WILL CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING IN THE WARNING AREA YOU SHOULD CHOOSE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE IF POSSIBLE... OR YOU SHOULD USE EXTREME CAUTION IF TRAVEL IS UNAVOIDABLE.

Update: 3:46 PM EST BAH! Some storm. It's petering out already. Debi will be disappointed! Need to find some REAL snowstorm photos for her now!

Not much to tell. Just one of those infamous snows in the snowbelt. (Chardon, OH). The Lake Effect snow can be nasty to deal with. The dog kennels are built off our house for a reason now. The weight of the lake effect snow (very heavy and wet) collapsed our kennel when it was free standing. (Course, we lost our garage to the same thing years ago!). We rebuilt it off the house for support.

Even with the snow, I wouldn't live anywhere else. Nor would my husband, who came from California. He says he would miss the seasons.
