Denver International Airport Snowed In, Stranding Thousands of Passengers

The snowy weather in Denver temporarily shut down Denver International Airport (DIA). Around 5,000 stranded passengers, who spent the night at the airport, are trying to get out of town, even as Denver Airport tries to clear all of its runways .

Today, four out of Denver Airport's six runways are open. Under Denver Airport's snowstorm plan, three of those runways are actually active, while one is getting cleaned. DIA hopes to have all runways open by the end of the day.

Expect heavy delays and cancellations at Denver Airport

If you are flying out of Denver Airport, make sure to confirm your flight before leaving for the airport, and leave plenty of extra time to deal with the security and check-in queues.

The airfield is open today under DIA's snow plan. Four of six runways are in use, with three always operating and one alternately being cleaned as needed. Officials are hopeful they can have all runways
