Disney's new film 'Earth' opens April 22nd, Earth Day, and already it has sold over 500,000 advanced tickets. Disney has pledged to plant a tree for every ticket sold during the film's opening week, so this already means over half a million tickets have been sold.
The president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group spoke with Access Hollywood saying, "With half a million new trees committed so far, Disneynature's first film is already making an impact on the world--and 'EARTH' hasn't even opened yet. We're so pleased that moviegoers have embraced this film and our tree-planting initiative to this degree and we expect the numbers to keep climbing."

Wow, 500,000 tickets already sold to see little more than a re-edit of BBC's Planet Earth DVDs? And it's great that David Attenborough will be seen by a wider audience...oh wait, no he won't.

The BBC series was breathtaking - but I was pretty disappointed to find that this movie contained little new content.

I have mixed feelings about the creation of this movie although I have not seen Planet Earth so I guess, from that point of view, I am lucky. However, it does seem like a 'cheat' of sorts on Disney's part and I created a debate page about the subject. I'd be thrilled if you'd visit Disney's Earth Movie And Planet Earth ~~ Are They The Same Documentaries and leave your opinion there.

I'm excited to see the film 'Disney's Earth Movie', this is amazing capture of living things and non-living things on earth... Another aspect of geological history that could have contributed to the concentration of species around our 'Mother Earth'... Thank you Amy, for sharing this beautiful story! :D
