Drill, Baby, Drill

D. Rex with his post of the Nation cover reminded me of something that had kind of stuck in my head since the Republican National Convention.

The most enthusiastic slogan chant in the whole convention was, "Drill, Baby, Drill!" This presumably refers to opening up offshore waters to oil drilling. Regardless of what anyone thinks on this issue, it's kind of an odd thing to be chanting at a nominating convention, since it's still up to Congress to pass the legislation.

I've chanted a lot of slogans in my time. Some are more inspiring than others. "El Pueblo, Unido, Jamas Sera Vencido" gets a 10, just because it sounds so cool. "No Justice, No Peace" gets an 8. It is certainly one of the truer slogans out there, but it is a bit short to get a real good chant going.

"Drill, Baby, Drill" is a -2. It just is. That's all.
