Earth Day: April 22nd, a day to celebrate our planet
Earth Day falls this year on April 22nd, and it is a day to take a second to appreciate our planet, what it gives us, and what we need to give back.
Earth Day has gained some popularity since it was first started in the 1970s, and more people are learning how to be 'green' and how to avoid increasing your carbon footprint.
Governmnets around the world are taking more measures to care for the environment these days, even going so far as to create a 'green' jobs mandate, but it is also up to everyone to do their part for the environment, and there's no better day than to start on Earth Day.
First you need to start talking green. See? Right there's an example. Green is no longer just a color - it's a noun, a verb, an all-purpose adjective and, why not, an adverb! Use the word liberally in whatever context needed to show all-encompassing "green" is. If you need something more specific, try adding "eco-" to the front of whatever term you would normally use
You can also look at your wardrobe and see if there is anything green you can do there. Buy organic cotton for example or clothes made from bamboo or hemp.
Take cloth bags to the grocery store so you don't have to use plastic ones, and if you don't have cloth, then buy some, they last forever.
Even some electronics are earth friendly now, so if you're in the market for a new cell phone or even a car, see if there is a way you can go green with that first.
Recycle or compost everything you can, and if you don't know what can or can't be recycled, look it up and learn it.
If you drive to work, try taking public transit if you can tomorrow, and get your morning coffee in a reusable cup. Perhaps try to avoid eating meat on Earth Day and see how it goes.
There are many things you can do, even if it is for only one day and help save at least your own little corner of the planet.

Japanese to Kill Whales on Earth Day
On this day, World Earth Day, four whaling ships and one so called research ship set sail for NE Japan to capture, slaughter kill 60 Minke whales in their usual blood bath. Japanese are insensitive about world opinion on this issue, and especially today!
