Earth Day was celebrated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on this sunny Sunday, April 20th. In true Cajun style, all hands were on deck to help out with the festivities.

Duwamish Alive was an early Earth Day celebration at eight restoration sites along the Duwamish river in Seattle and Tukwila. The Duwamish was once one of the largest natural estuarine areas in the U.S. but is now one of the largest Superfund sites. At the new Codiga Park site over 200 people cleared blackberry and planted native trees and shrubs.

It's getting hot in Baton Rouge, with temperatures up in the 80's, and there was a good crowd on hand, so there was a very long line at the snow cone stand. I took this picture while my husband was standing in line waiting.

Lawrence, Kansas is a very environmentally active city due to a large, young liberal population that resides here to attend the University of Kansas. The owner of an extremely popular local salon, Mark Chapman realized that to raise money for worthy causes such as clean water, it needed to be tied to a popular event. For the last few years, he and his staff have done a wonderful job of organizing a fashion show on Earth Day with the support of Aveeda products to raise money for clean water projects here and around the world. It's been great to be able to donate my time to create a video/photographic DVD of the show to make the experience more meaningful for those who participate. None of the imagery, such as the wonderful images shown in the opening ceremony with two Native American's performing music while two performers dance, are my work. It is a very popular, very creative show whose success is due to the dedication of Mark and his staff and to the many creative, talented people in our community.

It was a great day shared in the sun with so many of San Francisco's finest supporting all eco-concious living.  If it weren't for the slight biting wind, it would have been all together perfect.

The Green Apple Festival in Speedway Meadow was an excellent day in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park! A large crowd enjoyed the sunshine, the vibes, the community, and the ecological messages. Shown in these photos is the Tasseograph Trash Tea Temple, an interactive civic minded project created and inspired by Burning Man.

Great music, good food and warm temps, made the really first outdoor event of the year something to enjoy. From bubbles for kids to adults reliving a toy from their youth, the Green Apple Festive in Denver was enjoyed by many.
