Cape Town, South Africa's mother city, was one of the participants during earth hour. For the occasion, hundreds of people gathered on Table Mountain road - which leads to the foot of the famous, flat topped mountain. Although it seems that not too many people switched off their lights for the occasion, there were quite a few black patches in the city. The lights one sees in the distance are those of the harbour and other industrial areas.
