Earth Hour Takes Place Worldwide on March 27th from 8:30pm to 9:30pm Local Time, So What Are Some of the Things You Can do to Pass the Time?

With no electricity on a Saturday night for one whole hour, how are people going to pass the time without electronic stimulation?

Earth Hour takes place once a year every March 27th and while some people attend the outdoor parties to watch the lights of the cities get turned off, others prefer to stay at home and enjoy the hour in the dark.

So NowPublic has compiled a list of 10 things you can do for Earth Hour to help pass the time; feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments as well!

  1. Get a group of friends together, get all your food and drink ready before 8:30pm and then have a candlelight picnic either around the table or on the living room floor.
  2. Play a game - either a board game or an interaction game such as Charades.
  3. Spend some much needed time with friends or family just talking to them and catching up.
  4. Spend some much needed time in bed with your partner.
  5. Take a walk outside with your dog if you have one and see who else is participating in Earth Hour.
  6. Start a fight with anyone who isn't participating (ok we're just kidding with this one).
  7. Catch up on your sleep; we know it's Saturday night but you can always go out after your one hour power nap.
  8. Get together with some people in your neighborhood and host a block party for Earth Hour.
  9. Discuss with friends / family some of the ways we can all be more earth conscious and do our part to save energy. What can you do that you are not doing already?
  10. Do nothing. Just enjoy your time off from the noise and electronic stimulation of the world and appreciate the quiet. It doesn't happen enough in our lives.
