The webmail service 'EarthLink' suffered a major power outage this morning, and users were unable to access any of their pages; ironic considering today is Earth Day.

(At time of publication the site is still down)
It is not known what caused the crash, as the site was offline and even the company's phone numbers were down. The public relations department did not immediately return any calls.

Reports of EarthLink being down were first reported on Twitter, at about 10:30am EST.

"Wake-up call to EarthLink," wrote "

"EarthLink down on Earth Day," noted tweeter QuiCacet. "Coincidence or dastardly conspiracy?"

EarthLink is based in Atlanta and has 2.8 million subscribers across the US.

Aw man! That's rubbish for it.

And I try not to, but I always have a little giggle when something like this happens. Well, when it happens on something less important than Earth Day. For instance, when the mozilla site was down for hours the day FF3 was released because mozilla themselves invited everyone to download it at a certain time to break the record. They didn't think that through!

Yes, maybe it's a big Earth Day hoax, which would be just mean in my opinion...

And is it sorted at all? You said their phones were out too?
