So the world didn't end on May 21 2011 - 6pm came and went and the Rapture didn't take place like Harold Camping said it would.
He predicted that there would be a number of earthquakes on May 21 2011, and in a way he was kind of right. Not the end-of-the-world kind of earthquakes, but a number of strong quakes did hit around the globe today.
An earthquake struck in New Zealand, a magnitude 6.1, near the Kermadec Islands on Saturday, May 21 at 9:17 pm UTC - however, Sunday, May 22, 9:17 am at the epicentre.
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck in the Banda Sea, Indonesia, at 21:37 UTC, however, it was 6:37 am on Sunday May 22 at the epicentre.
Then, in Japan, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the coast of Honshu, at 22:06 UTC, but it was 7:06am on Sunday May 22 at the epicentre.
So although it was May 21, 2011 in some parts of the world, it was already May 22 in the places where the earthquake hit.
Could Harold Camping have been wrong about the date and time?
Doubtful, as we'll still be talking about this years from now, but we thought it was interesting that there have been a number of earthquakes today, and don't forget the volcano in Iceland erupting as well, that it has been an active day. Rapture or no Rapture.

Actually, what you say isn't true. Hundreds of earthquakes are monitored every day and may 21 was just another average statistic. In fact there are less earthquakes monitored in 2011 than in 2010 or 1997 for example. Harold camping is nothing but a crazy old man trying to get some attention to promote his radio station. Unfortunately many people decided to believe him and will now find themselves in debt. 2011 is just another year .. And so will be 2012, 2013 and the following years.

Thank you for posting this, I was in one of these earthquakes in Japan. I don't agree with Campy's idea of when the rapture will happen today but it is refreshing to see an article that isn't mocking him or his sincere beliefs, I do believe in the rapture and I think Campy is a sincere nice guy who is just misinformed. I think these earthquakes are signs of the last days!

No, they're not connected to "Judgement Day", and no, Harold Camping is in no way "right".There were just as many earthquakes round the world on May 20th as there were May 21st; just as many May 19th as May 20th; and so on.
