Flights Canceled in DC, Heavy Hail in New York City
The mid-Atlantic states have gotten a brief reprieve from the July heatwave, in the form of heavy thunderstorms. A Severe Thunderstorm watch is in effect in Washington, D.C.; as well as in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Massachusetts until 9pmET.
If you're flying out of of any airport in this area, double-check your flight.
New York City, which was in the middle of a 95F day, saw black clouds converge, dropping first heavy rain, and then large hailstones. [You can see the NYC hailstorm in the video below, shot from West Village. As we post this, the hail is starting to abate, but he heavy rain and thunder are still going strong.]
