Detail of the Eiffel Tour at night. It's design is a much practical as it is cosmetic - its design supposedly to deal with wind resistance for a tower that was once the tallest in the world (1889-1930).
Despite having a camera that didn't like taking night shots, I got a few of the gorgeous Eiffel Tower (right up there with the Sydney Harbour Bridge as one of my favourite pieces of engineering).
Since the year 2000 it has gained extra illumination that effectively "twinkles" every hour at night and it now has a searchlight at the top too - making it even more worthy of looking at.
