Ewok houses for sale
A new eco friendly spherical treehouse design that starts at just £22,000.
Canadian carpenter Tom Chudleigh's Free Spirit Spheres are suspended in trees and accessible by rope bridges. The 11ft wide eco-friendly houses can sleep four, allowing families to live in the forest without the need to worry about their carbon footprint.
The hand-crafted wooden spheres are constructed using boat building techniques and are coated in fibreglass making them waterproof and robust.
Inside, they are kitted out with a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, fridge and sink. The rest of the interior, including loft beds and bronze doors can be custom ordered.
Mr Chudleigh, from Vancouver, said: "Uses for these durable Spheres are limited only by one's imagination.
"The objective of this project is to be able to move into the rainforest and have an experience of it - with as little impact as possible."
Tom is now designing a sphere which will hold a washroom, shower and sauna.
The spheres take three people no more than three days to put up and can be ordered from Free Spirit Spheres
Prices start at around £22,000 for just the sphere or £74,000 for a complete, hand crafted house.
Remember those fuzzy creatures from Star Wars? Apparently, they've got into the condo business. Mark Stevenson takes a look at how a group of West Coasters found a way to build spherical cottages out of wood and suspend them 100 feet in the air...........
When our ancestors descended from the trees, it freed up their hands to use tools, and human progress began. But can anything be gained by venturing back up to the treetops? From his home on Vancouver Island, Tom Chudleigh is working on a plan to populate the treetops. We doubt you've seen anything quite like it.......
We are now up and running at our new location: 420 Horne Lake Rd., Qualicum Bay, BC, Canada. We provide spheres (with a complimentary snack) for a beautiful adult retreat in the trees . 14 years and older only please. The property is about 45 km North of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. It lies along the Inland Island Hwy (#19). The acreage is on private property close to Horne Lake Caves, a provincial park with great swimming holes, a beautiful underground cave network and lots of hiking and mountain biking trails............

I just heard about this today, and my first thought was 'yup, that's a Vancouver kind of idea.' but now that it's settled into my head a little... this would make a very interesting ski-touring or back-country travel way station or cabin... I look forward to seeing how this business grows! Thanks for the story!
