Ex-PM Brown joins battle to stop Dalgety Bay beach contamination
Former prime minister Gordon Brown has renewed pressure on the Ministry of Defence to act to deal with radioactive particles found on a Scottish beach.
The Labour MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath previously branded the "dumped" materials at Dalgety Bay in Fife an "undeniable hazard" for those living nearby.
Mr Brown repeated his demand for a face-to-face meeting with Defence Secretary Philip Hammond to discuss the radiation contamination issue in mid-January this year after calling for a meeting during a Commons debate the previous November.
He also urged the MoD to act over a second area of radiation in his constituency, asking in late January what the Defence Secretary planned to do following the discovery of particles at Crowhill Wood, Fife.....Read more
