Kolmården Zoo, near Norrköping, Sweden. We visited the Nordic regions largest zoo on our last full day in the country. We discovered this sweetheart of a gray wolf in a large forested enclosure with four or five others. They appeared rather tame (never domesticated, tho'!) as they hung around the fence while people took pictures. I stuck my lens through the fence for this closeup.
This wolf, I'm guessing, may be the omega of the pack. It's expression, tucked tail and standing away from the rest of the pack are the clues.
I have no idea why they'd keep this many in one enclosure. Wolves are best matched in pairs to maintain the peace.
Regardless, they looked magnificent!
