A new species of Fanged Frog, yes that is frogs that have fangs, has been discovered in Papua New Guinea, along with a Grunting Fish called the Henamo grunter that grunts from its bladder, and probably the biggest rat even seen in the world

All three were found in a remote volcanic crater, possibly a place for strange mutations to occur.

The team from the United Kingdom, the United States and Papua New Guinea found over 40 unidentified species on Mount Bosavi, which has been untouched for over 200,000 years.

Aside from the Fanged Frog, there were 15 other species of frogs discovered, three new fish, a giant rat, a new species of bat, giant monitor lizards and a kind of kangaroo that lives in the trees.

"It was mind-blowing to be there and it is clearly time we pulled our finger out and decided these habitats are worth us saving," said Dr George McGavin who headed the expedition.

Frogs do have teeth, but not like you or I.  I wonder if the fangs are an adaptation of vomer teeth.  They are backward pointing to prevent the bugs from escaping.
