The fashion giant Benetton Group has just announced that they will no longer sell products with animal fur. They follow in the footsteps of other chains such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, BCBG, Gap and JCPenny.
“With their new fur-free policy, Benetton and all of its influential brands are sending a powerful message that cruelty has no place in fashion,” said Andrew Page, senior director of the Fur-Free campaign for The HSUS. “We are thrilled to recognize Italy’s largest retailer for setting a new standard of compassion — one which will undeniably reverberate throughout the global fashion industry.”
This will be brought in to their spring/summer 2010 collections.
The designers that still use fur are numerous and animal rights organizations want more fashion lines and designers to say yes to animal cruelty-free clothing.

Have any of you ever seen their "United Colors" ad where the two horses are having sex?
Benetton is so politically correct that of course the dark horse gets the "mounter", while the white horse gets to be the "mountee".
Do they ever do anything that doesn't smack of a complete surrender to political correctness?

Actually I'm surprised it took them this long to take the 'no fur route' as they seem to be a company that would be first out of the gate with this one, but apparently not..
