Fido telephone company in Canada is pushing for all its customers to go green in the new year - by getting them to all convert to online billing systems, rather than paper ones.
Most customers seem to have problems with Fido and there are some online forums saying how online billing doesn't work, but it is a good way to cut down on paper usage, and Fido is just one of many Canadian companies trying to go green for 2009 and do their part for the Environment.

Good for FIDO.

I used to have online billing with Fido. It sucked so much so I had to go back to paper. IF they put a better system in place I'll be happy to go back to paperless.

A lot of this is just green washing. Fido will obviously save money and it makes them 'look good' regarding the environment. If they really want to go green they'd look at the manufacturing processes for the phones they carry and look to go 'carbon neutral' (which can just involve planting a lot of trees if you're not careful). Being positive though, its a first step, and they should be encouraged by us, not attacked.

this is all green washing, its all about saving money for them. whatever you do don't signup contract, new gsm carries are coming soon to Canada, in the mean time you can buy unlock phone cheap they start from $100 and more ... you have more choice too try retail stores like www.selectgsm.com there few reliable sources out there.
