MANDALUYONG CITY - To celebrate the national Clean-Up Month of the Philippines and in preparation for the forthcoming Clean Up the Philippines Day/Clean Up the World Weekend celebration on September 18, Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. (CUP), the Australian Embassy in Manila, and SM Megamall held an environmental launch last September 1, 2010 at the Event Center of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

The launch was entitled "Communities Caring for Nature" which was adopted from the 2010 Clean Up the World theme.  The program included a Kids Recycled Fashion Show featuring the Kids Coolits Little Guardians of the Earth by Clear Specs Production followed by the opening of the Green Photo Exhibit 2: AFP for H.O.P.E. (Healthy, Orderly and Pollution-free Environment) which featured various post-election clean-up drive photos of various military units.

Present in the event were SM Megamall Mall Manager Christian Mathay; Mandaluyong District 2 City Councilor Dr. Alexander Sta. Maria; Army's Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations Colonel Daniel A. Lucero and former Senator and former Makati City District 2 Congressman Agapito "Butz" Aquino who is also the uncle of Philippine President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" C. Aquino III.

Also at the launch were CUP Founder and Chairman Roald Romualdez Arcangel; Secretary-General Attorney Sharon E. Millan-Decano; CUP Campaign Manager for the Visayas Mr. Dann Diez; IT Officer Mr. Michael Babao; Youth Coordinator Ms. Yvette Watson, Ms. Joan Manguera of Clear Specs Production and Brother Ronald Fabilian and the Sangaliw Dance Troupe from Christian School of Pila, Inc. who presented a beautiful religious interpretative number.

Both the guest speakers and the organizers were one in stressing  the importance of the community working together to clean-up their local environment, in doing so, we are cleaning up the whole country and helping clean up the World.
