Flash Flood Concerns and Tornado Watch for Texas to Ohio Valley
There are more flash flood warnings and a tornado watch in place for parts of Texas all the way to the Ohio Valley.
Tropical Storm Rick contributed to heavy areas of moisture over Texas, resulting in flash flooding in Fort Worth and San Antonio, and more rain is expected.
Despite several days of dry weather, the soils across the state remain fairly saturated after average rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches during the first half of this month.
Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for:
Adams, Attala, Bolivar, Carroll, Choctaw, Claiborne, Clay, Copiah, Franklin, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Lawrence, Leake, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Montgomery, Neshoba, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Simpson, Sunflower, Warren, Washington, Webster, Winston, Yazoo
Several rivers are above flood stage at this time with two to three inches more rain expected.
If the flooding becomes any worse, officials will close I-20, I-40, I-45 and I-55 and motorists are urged to take caution when driving anywhere. There could also be delays at the airport.
