Shot for PhotoChallenge.org 2009 Challenge, Day 264: News
It's not great art, but it is what's in the news here in this part of the world--some of the worst flooding on record. This scene (shot, obviously, out my car window) is not the usual riverbed, but the parking lot for one of my favorite hiking trails along the river. The river would usually be about 30 yards to the right of this frame. As of this morning, the river level was even higher, the highest I've seen it in the 20 years I've lived here. Lots of other scenes of flooding and overflowing water around town yesterday that I wish I could have preserved, but couldn't capture because there was no place to stop (and it was still raining!).
