Heavy rains in two days 30 and 31st of Oct have caused traffic jams on many roads and killed at least 10 people in Hanoi. More images and updated news.

Rain is liquid precipitation. On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface.

There's water everywhere. The adults can't go to work and the children can't go to school, either. The students will get day-offs till Monday. If you were in Hanoi right now, you couldn't tell where the streets are and where the lakes are. Hanoi looks just like a huge pool!

mclean, I am supporting your story with updated photos on the historical flood in Hanoi at the moment. Water is everywhere in our residential area, even some fishes have come to my floor :(( And the rain is continuing now, which is forecasted to last for two days more.

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for posting the photos. I left Hanoi in early August after living there for 2.5 years and I am horrified to see the extent of the flooding..... I hope you didn't get too wet in your attempts to take the photos! It is also very dangerous to be wading in these waters and not knowing whether there are any live wires about ....
All the best

Hi, I'm suppose to start my vacation trip and fly into Hanoi this Thursday (11/6). Is it safe and should I still go?

Hi, I'm suppose to start my vacation and fly into Hanoi this Thursday (11/6). Is it safe to go and should I still go? How's the rest of the next couple of weeks looking like? Thanks

@John_T: things are getting better from today, no worry :) Transportation is coming back normally in town. Just in case you travel up to some place in the North (few hundreds km from Hanoi), there would be possibly raining.
Welcome to Hanoi!

Things getting better? Hopefully it is. Hopefully can get to visit places like Ha Long Bay and Van Phuc Village. Traveling north to Sapa will have trouble? Thanks for the update, a real insider news about Hanoi

I have been to Ha Noi a number of times, I love the place, it makes me sad to see all of this flooding, these people are still getting this city back to normal , this is a knock, but they are great people who will handle this knock.
