Im from Markina myself, and have lost a lot in this typhoon.Instead of pointing fingers at who is to blame for this flooding,(which is un avoidable)why not lets just join hands in helping each other out........

My guess is, since it's a flash flood, that the dam was opened abruptly. If they opened it sooner it the raise of flood should have been slower, people could have reacted and fatality avoided. Another side is that, almost all ponds/pool that before helped in carrying water from flood are now subdivisions.Condelence to those who have lost ... I just hope this doesn't happen again....

im from marikina myself. i believe that the government shouldve invested their money alot better. so instead of buying giant shoes for displays and building giant statues of the mayor they should've invested the money in preparing for floods and having better sewer systems.

I'm from Marikina, too. Born and raised. And I have lost almost everything. However, I don't blame the local government. Marikina has one of -- if not the best -- drainage system in the metro. But fact is, we live in a valley. The river was swollen. Water was still falling from the heavens. Water was rushing down from neighboring cities and mountains. There was too much water, and it had no place to go. It is what it is. Let's not point fingers at "big shoes" or "big statues." I believe Marikenos are better than that.
