The ministry would launch the Readiness of the Reducing Emission from Deforestation in Developing Countries (REDD) on Thursday (Dec. 6), a statement of the forestry ministry said here on Tuesday.

A workshop on forest policy and conservation, reforestation, plantation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable forest management, and forest fire management, will be organized from December 6 to 7, 2007.

An exhibition themed "Indonesian Forestry Development, Anticipating Global Climate Change" is being organized as of Tuesday.

The ministry is also coordinating several field trips, among others, to a teak forest in Banyuwangi, East Java, the Mangrove Information Center in Bali and the West Bali National Park.
