This Peregrine photo was taken at San Simeon State Park in California. I had never seen one taking a bath before, so it was a special treat.

My father and I regulary go out birdwatching, he knew of factory that a pair of peregrines had been sited at. Straight away when we got there, they were both on show, the lighting was incorrect for a photograph though. Luckily they flew the other side of the factory, and we followed, and there, the lighting was beautiful, this allowed us to capture this great peregrine. Not long after we took this photo, it flew off and hunted, whilst its mate was hiding in what we believe to be their nesting place. It was beautiful to see them sitting so peacefully.

Take note of shorebirds whenever you're out photographing birds. If a Peregrine Falcon is in the area, the shorebirds will become frantic and sound a warning alarm. This is alwasy a good indication that a predator is in the area. Soon after a group of shorebirds sounded the alarm, this Peregrine Falcon flew down and attacked a large gull. The gull was too large for the Peregrine to fly with so the gull was eaten right in front of us.

I shot this image of a peregrine falcon from the 35th floor window of our offices in Jersey City, NJ. These wonderful birds nest -- and hunt -- from these high purchases. In nature, where they might use tall trees or cliffs, in the New York metro area, they use the tall buildings for the same effect. Once in danger or extinction, it appears that the peregrine is making a comeback. This particular bird is tagged (can't see from this angle) with an ID bracelet on his left talon, presumably so environmentalists can monitor the birds and insure the species' survival. (Word is, this bird and its mate have had several chicks over the past two years or so, living at this location).

Taken from the top of cliffs at Kinoull Hill just outside Perth. I was looking for Buzzards and got Falcons.

Peregrine Falcons are often seen along the Lake Erie shoreline around Cleveland. I took this picture at Wildwood State Park which is along Lake Erie on the east side of Cleveland in February 2008.

I was kayaking on the estuary at Morro Bay CA when this peregrine falcon started making hunting runs over the flocks of shorebirds, mostly American Avocets and Yellowlegs. This was the only decent shot I was able to get of him, and while my camera was in my lap and I was turning my kayak, he flew right into the back of a pack of escaping avocets and grabbed a straggler, taking him to the ground for a meal.
