And so........ you can find thousands of these beautiful polished nuts bursting from their cases, spiky on the outside but soft and nurturing inside.. and there they are.... lying unwanted on the ground here in France, whereas in England every Horse Chestnut tree suffers from climbing boys and thrown up logs trying to dislodge them from the branches to play Conkers! see the wonderful description in Wikipedia.

These are healthy French Conkers, beautiful sheen and solid nuts. They were there by the bucketful......Pity most of them them went to waste as the French don't play conkers.
