It's been a weird month. Rio de Janeiro's seemingly never-ending summer has gone missing and it has paved the way for some of the coldest weeks in a long time at the "Redeemer's City". Early June temperatures have dropped to a very unusual 48 degrees in some neighborhoods in the city's Zona Sul disctrict. 

Rain, fog, persistent cloudiness... World-know touristic spots in Rio de Janeiro like Copacabana Beach or Ipanema have seen few hours of open-sky sun during June. That has lead to many surpirse reactions from tourists enjoying the city of Bossa Nova. The average yearly temperature in Rio hovers around the 80s, so Cariocas rarely worry about cold fronts heading their way.

Overall, this has been a unusual year weatherwise fot Brazil's famous coastal city. In early February, record high temperatures lead to one of the hottest carnivals seasons ever, with thermometers reaching 110 degreees, a temperature not expected any time soon in the "Marvelous City".
