Do we care? I guess not…. 10 years ago Karachi SeaView beach used to have silver white sand... in the morning it used to be filled with Crabs, sea slugs and sea birds…but now I only see GARBAGE… I think it’s time to start calling it Trash View…

It seems nature and sea life is giving its final message…….currently Sea view beach is filled with seashell…. It seems that the sea life is suffering from high level of pollution.

I just wonder what role Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (http://www.environment.gov.pk/contactus.htm) is playing to protect the environment….

Thank for bringing this to our attention Bilal.  This is tragic and worrying.

Bilal Mirza, I like this story. It's good stuff. no agency, however efficient, can police the entire coastline, restraining people. and though beach cleaning projects are taken up once in a while (mostly by school children) the entire population, young and old, have to learn to throw their garbage where they are supposed to, but not on the beaches and neither on the roads.

That is so sad, but I think you're right - not enough people care...

The garbage is not just from ships, though much of it is.  It is washed to sea in floods.  It is part of the sewage that runs from undeveloped areas.
It is a product of indifference.
Nature is indifferent to man's indifference to nature.  Nature usually wins.

Bilal Mirza, I like this story. It's good stuff, yet really sad that this is happening at Seaview. I had to stop going to Redondo Beach in California because it smelled like a sewer and dirty diapers were floating everywhere.

My family lives in Karachi only about 40 minutes from Seaview. I have seen all the trash on that beach and know that if ignorant people start to care this beach would be beautiful. I'm a marine life artist and it makes me very sad to know about this. I love the ocean and marine life very much. I know that the World Wildlife Foundation has a branch in Karachi, Pakistan and also they have some environmental groups but I think they don't have enough people joining. Right now I'm currently living in the United States(I'm U.S. born) and wish that once I go back to Karachi I will join some group and get people more aware and involved in cleaning up the beaches, and preserving them. People there just dont' care but something must be done. We've got to do something. Not only is this a hazard to wildlife but to ourselves as well.

I am 11 years old and I'm also a fan of sealife and I do not like this disrespect for sealife which God has made. The above person (Rehana) is my aunt. I would say that people should make a group that whoever throws any trash on the beach should be made to pick up their trash or get a fine. I will pray that people will make a group to save the sea animals. I wish that whoever listens to this message and understands that it is not good to throw trash I will be satisfied. I always hope that the dolphins and whales and other animals will be safe.
