It seems like naked hiking would be terribly uncomfortable, since backpack chafing is a problem even while wearing a shirt.

This story got front page coverage in Russia's Pravda.ru. Human interest at its best.

Ten German nudists may have to give up their hobby of naked mountain climbing after one of the men was arrested for indecent exposure.

The Germans, who come from the eastern region of Saxony, spend their time conquering summits with nothing but a rucksack on their bare back.

But the authorities are not impressed at seeing bare bums and tackle on display on their beautiful mountain paths. For several months they issued nude climber Siegfried Grawert (51) countless fines for indecent exposure and disturbing the peace, amounting to over 2,000 Euros. But the property caretaker displayed naked determination in his pursuit of the reaching the highest summits without any clothes on, and has so far refused to pay.

After ignoring further judicial demands the authorities arrested him at his home in Bavaria.

Good call with the poison ivy, Barbara! This is the kind of story that you think never really happens - and then someone goes and does it.
