Eco-nudists claim that they are at the forefront of saving the planet. The soft-porn stereotype of volleyball and sun-baths that many have is being turned around as naked activists protest against global warming, fast food killing methods and pollution.
On the one hand it's good to see naturist groups coming on board the environmental ship but on the other some will label them as just another set of attention seeking left-field environmentalist hippy types. People will really sit up when middle-class business people in suits and ties and power-dressing women bankers and the like take to the streets with placcards and banners. So yes get naked and save the planet if you will but just getting out on the street wrapped up to the nines if you like will help do the job too.
The link between playing nude volleyball and stopping the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf melting to the size of an ice cube may seem a bit tenuous. But a growing number of naturists contend that, not only are they in the vanguard of the environmentalist movement, but their lifestyle might even help to reverse anthropogenic global warming. Econudes.org was founded two years ago by naturists dissatisfied with the passive, Health & Efficiency, beach ball-bopping image of nudism. Clothes, and all the ancillary industries involved in their manufacture, transportation and upkeep, are a major cause of climate change, they say. Eliminate them, and you eliminate a significant threat to mankind. "Get your kit off and save the planet" is the message.

Nice story! It's a strategy that's worked for PETA in the past, so hopefully they're able to utilize the media's attention and raise awareness.

LotusFlower, I like this story. It's good stuff. Isn't this counter productive? Protest naked, get skin cancer and die... Oh what a novel idea to reduce green house gases, environmentalists dieing from sun stroke. Now that is a sacrifice.
