Environment Day that celebrated every June 5th was a momentum of students in Samarinda to hang a giant banner on Mahakam Bridge..
The students said "Stop environment destruction, save our life..!!" with that banner..
The mass gathering started on 11.00 AM GMT+8.. Which participants came from Imapa Unmul (Nature Preservation Society of Mulawarman University), Buser Unmul (Folk Culture and Art Society), Maplofa Unmul (Flora and Fauna Preservation Society), Mapala Planktos (like Imapa, from Fishery Faculty), Tajuk 9 (Critical Thinking Society), Greenpunk, and so on..
Participants has equipped with SAR tools, to convince the authorities that they were doing a safe action..
Less than 30 mins, the whole banner has hung perfectly.. With purpose to be read by the coal and wood pontoon which frequently pass beneath the bridge as a warning of the importance of natural preservation..
For instance, in East-Kalimantan province of Indonesia, more than 500 hectares forest being destructed by illegal logging and coal exploration and exploitation.. The effect from this activities can haunt the future of our sons and grandsons for 50 years later..
And for now, the main effect of nature destruction was flood that happening recently..
