Glendale Fire Burns in Northeast Los Angeles: Homes Threatened
The Glendale area of Northeast Los Angeles is on fire tonight and a number of homes are threatened due to this rapidly burning brush fire that is now about 40 acres in size.
Devin Gales, the Los Angeles Fire Spokesperson says a number of homes in the Eagle Rock area near the interchange of State Route 134 and Route 2 may have to be evacuated. Voluntary evacuations are already underway.
However, homes in the 2100 to 2300 block of Glenoaks Boulevard have been asked to evacuate by the Glendale Police Department as some homes are within 50 feet of the blaze.
Traffic is affected on the freeways and no traffic is allowed in to the area or out, unless the homeowners are evacuating.
Helicopters are making water-dropping runs on the blazing slopes of the Verdugo Mountains. Winds are light but temperatures remain in the 90s.
Gales says there were three other spot fires in the same general area.
