Westport, CT, May 27, 2009 -- A GLOBAL FRIENDSHIP, a local non-profit organization benefiting disadvantaged communities in need by supporting education, equality, and economic and environmental sustainability, will host it’s first annual charity fundraiser at Tiburon Restaurant in Westport, CT located at 333 Wilton Road, on Thursday, June 11th at 7:00p.m. We are very thankful that Tiburon has graciously opened their doors in sponsoring AGF’s charity event.

Elizabeth Firgeleski, the founder of A Global Friendship, set out for a month in Thailand to solve her goal of helping develop poorer nations. On December 26, 2004, Elizabeth was on the beach in Thailand when the first of the waves of the Tsunami struck. Elizabeth, like many, had to struggle to safety. While injured and unable to help in the immediate, she vowed to go back and help these people who were so incredibly gracious to her in helping her to safety.

In 2007, Elizabeth begins what is called A Global Friendship, using personal funds. In 2008, on a second trip back to Thailand, Elizabeth and team visited an orphanage housing 90% Tsunami survivors. The group developed a plan to donate a water filtration system and build a computer room to be completed by December 2009.

A Global Friendship’s mission is to partner with disadvantaged communities and artisans in third world countries, gifting them with the opportunity towards self-sustainability. A forward thinking environmentally conscious organization, the group plans to support artisans, and in turn communities by buying trend forward, fair-trade garments and handicraft to bring to the western market. Over 90% of the donations go directly into programs. Founded in 2007 with its first buying trip in Thailand, A Global Friendship’s vision is to expand its programs to numerous countries in need throughout Asia and South America.

“Project Home” is A Global Friendship’s development project.  By developing the artisan’s skill set through education of basic business skills, providing them the opportunity to sell their merchandise for a fair price and connecting them with people from the West, we enable them the chance to form future partnerships. Project Home is devoted to the restoration of dignity.  Our hope is to help the Thai people regain trust and not only return home–to self, but to elevate their lives to the unimaginable.

The charity event will feature a Silent Auction, Open Bar, Hors D'oeuvres and *Live Music.A Raffle of a 52" SONY Bravia LCD TV (raffle tickets only $35 and limited to 120 tickets)

Silent Auction Items include: The Blackberry Bold, Botox, NY Yankee Tickets, Nintendo Wii, Broadway Tickets, Dinner for 6, Golf Lessons, Weekend Getaway and much more…

Jarret, I disagree. A good press release announces something to the public, and if not a well-known cause, gives an overview of the organization, the founder(s), and the event (if that is it's purpose).  This is well written and informative.  Using a negative comment to advertise your services is underhanded, and I would say your integrity is what needs improvement.
