NP Rank:
Goolwa is dying
Water is the lifeblood of Goolwa. Once a flourishing River Port, it's economy still depends on water. Tourists, farmers, sailors , fishers and lovers of Wooden Boats all rely on water. As the water drains away, so does Goolwa's soul, leaving a dead shell. It is ironic that the bridge in this photo appears here as lifeless skeleton. It is a visual metaphor for "Dead in the Water";. The conflict between indigenous locals and the developers seems pointless now as the need for a bridge slowly becomes irrelevant. The Swan flees, looking for where there is life. Soon there will be no colour at all, no water, no life: just a concrete monument to greed.

This is a very sad statement on human priorities. Thanks for the post.

So can you tell us where Goolwa is? And you don't really tell us much about who is using the water or how it is disappearing. What specifically is occurring?
