Gorilla celebrates her 55th birthday with her own cake
The oldest living gorilla in captivity celebrated her 55th birthday today at the Dallas Zoo, with her very own frozen fruit cake.
Jenny also enjoyed banana leaf-wrapped treats at her wooded home in the complex.
Her caretakers say that Jenny, about 210 pounds, has a few joint issues and her eyesight isn't what it used to be. But Jenny still looks good for an old ape.
Curator Todd Bowsher says 55 is a good long old age for a gorilla.
In the wild, gorillas normally would live to about 35.
Her handlers at the Dallas Zoo describe Jenny as very sweet, though a little bossy, especially when she doesn't want to go out into a more open area of her pen.

This photo was taken on a school field trip in March 2008. The kids were all about seeing the gorillas and me taking all the pictures of them that I could. - Now I here this one just had a birthday!! Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Jenny!
When we were at the Dallas zoo the gorilla came right up to say hello. I was able to get a few good shots.
